Hi.

When I became a mom, I searched for a blog that resonated with every part of me: the nerdy kid, the ansty teenage feminist, the wayward 20-something, the ambitious career woman, the writer, the traveler, the wife, and yes, the mother. I couldn’t find that blog, so I wrote it. Welcome.

Letting go of control

Letting go of control

As the saying goes: if there’s a random chair in the parking lot, sit in it. Especially if it’s 95 degrees and the sun is blazing, and your parents really REALLY want to get in the air conditioned car.

Patience has never been my virtue. He’s been the best teacher. Also the best excuse for being late for everything for the rest of my life.

Seriously though, he has really forced me to let go of my controlling nature. Because toddlers=uncontrollable. But you know what? It’s fine.

It’s fine that it takes him ten minutes to put our shoes on. And another ten to brush his teeth. Plus the ten it took him to stack up all our books before we could leave the bedroom.

That stuff used to raise my blood pressure 100% of the time. Now I’d say I’m down to 40%. It’s only taken two years, so I’m calling that overnight success.
